Night at Dawn

A layered set of industrial platforms holds a staged domestic scene. Mounds of earth extend from the ground, appearing to hold the structure up and dislocating objects between layers. Steps on either side can be used to reach the top, from where a single page of Thomas Mann’s “The Magic Mountain” can be read. On top of the desk is an animated toy horse that appears to be perpetually gasping for air.
